He claimed that both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate, M. Swaraj, and the UDF candidate were supporters of 'Pinarayism,' referring to the political ideology of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Nilambur By-Election: UDF and LDF Face Vote-Splitting Challenges
The Nilambur Assembly by-election, scheduled for June 19, is witnessing a tight contest between the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Left Democratic Front (LDF). UDF’s Aryadan Shoukath and LDF’s M. Swaraj are the primary candidates, but the presence of three other key players—P.V. Anvar (Independent, formerly TMC), BJP’s Mohan George, and SDPI’s Sadik Naduthodi—could significantly influence the outcome by potentially splitting votes. The Election Commission rejected Anvar’s nomination as the TMC candidate due to technical issues but accepted his Independent candidature, allotting him the scissors symbol. Both UDF and LDF are cautious in their campaigns, aware that missteps could benefit their opponents in this closely contested election.
