U.S. Deports American Children, Including Cancer Patient, Amid Trump's Immigration Policy
On April 26, 2025, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deported three American children, aged two, four, and seven, along with their undocumented immigrant mothers from Louisiana. One of the children suffers from a rare form of metastatic cancer and was deported without necessary medication or medical consultations. The deportations occurred amidst President Donald Trump's stringent immigration policies, which advocate for the mass expulsion of undocumented migrants. The National Immigration Project and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) criticized the actions as 'illegal and inhumane,' highlighting that one of the mothers is pregnant and that families were held 'incommunicado.' A Federal District Judge has scheduled a hearing for May 16 to address suspicions that a U.S. citizen was deported without due process. The Trump administration has faced opposition from federal judges, rights groups, and Democrats, who argue that constitutional rights are being violated.

Kerala Central Inspection System (K-CIS) Completes 25,000 Inspections Successfully
The Kerala Central Inspection System (K-CIS), a centralized inspection mechanism for industries, has successfully completed 25,000 inspections, as announced by the Industries department. The system, which aims to streamline inspections, has replaced the traditional practice of individual officials conducting inspections, thereby reducing delays and alleviating concerns among industry owners about random inspections. Industries and Law Minister P. Rajeeve highlighted the system’s success as a testament to the department’s professional transformation. However, industry stakeholders, including Kerala State Small Industries Association president A. Nisaruddin, have called for better awareness among officials and increased manpower to address occasional delays. Inspections are conducted electronically, with establishments informed in advance, and reports uploaded within 48 hours. The fully online process ensures transparency and eliminates bias. With around five lakh industrial establishments registered under K-CIS, the system also allows the public to raise complaints through its platform, which are addressed as the inspection process gains momentum.
