Tamil Nadu Leaders Condemn Pahalgam Terror Attack on Tourists
On Tuesday, Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, South Kashmir. The attack targeted innocent tourists and resulted in multiple casualties. Governor Ravi, in a post on X, termed the attack as cowardly and assured that the terrorists and their mentors would be held accountable. He also extended his condolences to the bereaved families and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. Chief Minister Stalin described the incident as a barbaric act that shocks the conscience and expressed his deep sadness upon learning that some victims were from Tamil Nadu. Stalin has directed the Resident Commissioner in Delhi to coordinate with authorities to provide necessary assistance to the affected families.
APPSC to Fill 866 Vacant Posts Following SC Sub-Classification Approval
The implementation of sub-classification within the Scheduled Caste (SC) category has enabled the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) to proceed with pending recruitments for various government departments. The Andhra Pradesh government has already announced Mega DSC-2025 to fill 16,347 teacher posts through Computer-Based Tests (CBT) scheduled from June 6 to July 6, 2025. With the SC sub-classification issue resolved, the APPSC is preparing to release 18 notifications for 866 vacant posts across departments. These include 814 posts in the Forest Department, 10 Agriculture Officers, 7 Executive Officers, 7 Zilla Sainik Officers, and others in departments like Horticulture, Fisheries, and Transport. APPSC Chairperson A.R. Anuradha confirmed that the notifications were delayed due to the pending SC sub-classification but are now set to be released soon after departments finalize the categorization of posts based on the new reservation framework.
Former Intelligence Chief P.S.R. Anjaneyulu Arrested in Actress Harassment Case

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Andhra Pradesh arrested former Intelligence Director-General P. Sitarama Anjaneyulu (P.S.R. Anjaneyulu) in connection with the harassment case involving Bollywood actress Kadambari Jethwani. Anjaneyulu was taken into custody from his Hyderabad residence and questioned for approximately five hours at the CID office in Vijayawada. The case stems from a complaint filed by Kadambari in September 2023, accusing several police officers, including Anjaneyulu, of colluding with Kukkala Vidyasagar to falsely implicate her and her family. The CID is investigating the circumstances under which the case was registered, the alleged procedural lapses, and the pressures exerted on the investigating officers. Anjaneyulu’s house in Hyderabad was also searched, and he is expected to be produced in a Vijayawada court after further questioning. Earlier, in February 2024, Kadambari and her family were allegedly arrested on false charges and brought to Vijayawada, where they were remanded to judicial custody.

Judges Escape Pahalgam Terror Attack on April 22, 2025
On April 22, 2025, a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, claimed over 25 lives. Three Kerala High Court judges—Anil K. Narendran, G. Girish, and P. G. Ajithkumar—along with their families, narrowly escaped the attack. The judicial team had been on a vacation in Jammu and Kashmir since April 17, 2025, and had visited various tourist spots in Pahalgam on April 21. They left Pahalgam at 9:30 a.m. on April 22 and reached Srinagar by 2 p.m., just before the attack occurred. Justice Narendran mentioned that their decision to return early spared them from the tragedy. The incident caused widespread panic among legal circles, but relief followed upon learning of the judges’ safe escape. The attack has been described as one of the largest directed at civilians in recent years by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Pahalgam Terror Attack Sparks Condemnation from J&K Leaders and Tourism Sector
On April 22, 2025, a terror attack in Pahalgam, located in Anantnag district of south Kashmir, resulted in multiple tourist casualties and injuries. The incident was strongly condemned by regional political parties, tourism stakeholders, and religious leaders in Jammu and Kashmir. ECI Rebuts Rahul Gandhi’s Allegations, Affirms Transparency in Indian Elections

On April 22, 2025, the Election Commission of India (ECI) responded to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations made during his visit to the United States, where he claimed that the ECI was 'compromised.' The ECI refuted these claims, stating that Indian elections are conducted transparently and in accordance with the law, with the process being widely acclaimed globally. The ECI emphasized that any misinformation about the election process disrespects the law and undermines the efforts of election staff and elected representatives. Book on Nuclear Energy and Kerala’s Future Released in Kozhikode
On April 22, writer Kalpetta Narayanan released the book 'Randam Aanava Duswapnam' (Second Atomic Nightmare) in Kozhikode. The book, an anthology of essays on nuclear energy and Kerala’s future energy prospects, was handed over to V.T. Padmanabhan, research director at the Society of Science, Environment and Ethics. It features contributions from eminent personalities, including nuclear physicists Surendra Gadekar, M.V. Ramana, Budhikkotta Subba Rao, K. Ramachandran, K. Sahadevan, E. Unnikrishnan, and C. Jayaraman. Published by Transition Studies, associated with the M.N. Vijayan Cultural Centre, the book was edited by K. Sahadevan. The event was presided over by writer and journalist N.P. Chekkutty, who emphasized the book’s relevance in light of the proposed nuclear power plant at Cheemeni in Kasaragod. Mr. Padmanabhan discussed his research on radiation effects in the Chavara–Neendakara region in Kollam, while writer and researcher Smitha P. Kumar introduced the book.

Kerala to Upgrade All PWD Roads to BM BC Standards, Announces Tourism Minister Riyas
Tourism Minister P.A. Mohammed Riyas announced on Tuesday that all Public Works Department (PWD) roads in the state will be upgraded to Bituminous Macadam and Bituminous Concrete (BM BC) standards. He revealed that 60% of the 30,000 km road network under the PWD has already been upgraded. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the renovated Killiyalam-Vamanjoor-Banam-Kmmadam road and the reconstructed bridge over the Kiliyalam canal. The 10 km stretch was widened to 10 meters, and the bridge was completed using funds from the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board. Riyas credited the Constituency Monitoring Team, formed in all 140 assembly segments, for expediting road renovation projects across the state. The project, which includes sub-base strengthening, BM BC tarring, and the construction of drains and culverts, was described as a 'gift' to the Kanhangad constituency, coinciding with the state government’s fourth anniversary. The event was presided over by E. Chandrasekharan, MLA, with dignitaries including Rajmohan Unnithan, MP, M. Rajagopalan, MLA, and District Panchayat president Baby Balakrishnan in attendance.

Gurmeet Marwah's Solo Exhibition 'Kartab' Explores Multidimensional Human Acts

Gurmeet Marwah, a Delhi-based artist, is presenting his first solo exhibition titled 'Kartab' at Artisera in Indiranagar, which will be on display until May 4. The exhibition explores the concept of 'kartab,' a Hindi word meaning act, deed, or undertaking, as it manifests in everyday life. Marwah's works delve into the multi-dimensional aspects of human actions, emphasizing that there is more to every act than what is visible on the surface. His art is characterized by minimalism and simplicity, often featuring animals like goats, donkeys, monkeys, owls, and frogs, inspired by local slang. Marwah also incorporates humanoid figures in some of his recent works, symbolizing various subjects. The exhibition reflects his middle-class upbringing and societal influences, presented through a visual language that aims to simplify complex ideas for the viewer.
No Evidence of Ragging Found in Student Suicide Case: Ernakulam Police
A preliminary inquiry conducted by the Ernakulam Rural police into the death of a 15-year-old student, who allegedly died by suicide in January, found no evidence of ragging at his school. The investigation was initiated after the victim’s mother petitioned the Chief Minister and the State Police Chief, alleging that ragging had driven her son to take the extreme step. The Puthencruz police, under the jurisdiction of District Police Chief Vaibhav Saxena, submitted a report stating that while they could not categorically rule out ragging, no concrete evidence was found. Statements were recorded from the victim’s cousin, friends, classmates, school authorities, and the driver of his transport vehicle. The school authorities also denied any knowledge of ragging incidents, stating that they had conducted internal inquiries with students, parents, and teachers. The case is now being probed by a special investigation team.
